Curtains and blinds chosen

Today I met on site with Kevin from Kresta Curtains & Blinds to measure our windows and quote for curtains and blinds.

We are lucky in that we do not have to have all our windows covered. Here is what we have chosen.

Master bedroom will be double track with sheer curtain in the front and blockout fabric behind on the second track. The curtains will cover the entire wall.

The sheer curtain is a lovely straw colour with vertical stripes. I didn't think I'd go with a pattern but it was very pretty and elegant looking. The fabric has a beautiful sheen to it too.

The highlite window above our bed will have a basic blockout roller blind in White. I wanted to keep that one quite simple so it didn't detract from the large curtains on the other wall.

The front Study (our spare bedroom) will have both windows covered with a double roller blind. The sunscreen blind will be Sterling and the blockout blind will be Taupe.

The laundry sliding door will have a sunscreen blind in Sterling. I wasn't concerned about having a blockout blind in the laundry.

Bedroom 2 & bedroom 3 will have a blockout roller blind in Taupe. Sunscreen blind is not required as those windows will have window film on them. The bathroom will also have the blockout blind in Taupe.

The theatre room will have the sunscreen roller blind in Sterling. We will then have a blockout curtain that covers the entire wall in a dark grey colour called Shadow.

The two windows in the west side of the man cave will have double roller blinds in the below colour combination to compliment the mid grey paint colour.

We were happy with the quote from Kresta and we will phone them next week to order and pay the deposit. If we order these ASAP we shouldn't be without window coverings for long after we have moved in.

  1. I plan to do the sheer curtain also, can't wait to see them up. I hope you get some good progress this week!

    1. Thanks Caitlin, I hope to see some good progress too! Our upper deck frame is almost finished and our cornice has been completed. I'm expecting the stone benchtops next :)

  2. Ohhhh yay I can't wait to see the stone down! We are waiting on a crane to lift the joists up onto the house, hoping Thursday weather permitting. What render are you having on the house?

    1. I'm excited to see the stone. I think it should go in this week. We chose to have 20mm stone instead of the standard 40mm. We are having Dulux Champignon render to the front porch, pillar and in front of the study. I think (hope!) it will compliment the bricks and windows nicely. Fingers crossed the weather holds out for you. Have you had any further action on your build?

  3. Nice! The render is the one thing I'm unsure about and we have a lot of render... no progress just had the steel and subfloor delivered, really hoping the next month we see good progress. So what's left to do? Polish the floors, render, stone....

    1. It was hard to choose the render, I was guided by the colour consultant as I was so indecisive! There is still lots left to do, I highly doubt we will be in on 5th May as they previously advised. We have the plumbing fit off, drainage/agi pipes, electrical fit off, stone benches, floors to be sanded & polished, carpet, tiling, painting touch ups, doors rehung, two rear decks, deck off the laundry, front porch decking, our gas still isn't connected, plus a whole lot more. We are past the point now of rushing to get in. We don't mind if it takes a little longer, as long as it's done properly. After all, we are getting paid penalties for each week that it runs over contract!

  4. That's it you don't have things being done half arsed and then be disappointed later. Sounds like a lot to go but it's amazing how quick things could happen! I can't wait just to see frame up. ..

  5. It's exciting when the frame goes up as you get to walk through your house for the first time :)
