Tiling and Splashback

Our tiling is almost complete! Just a few touch ups and the tile skirts will have to be done in some areas after the toilets are installed.

It's weird how the powder room, bathroom & ensuite cabinets look like they're different colours - they're not. Just bad lighting!

Splashback tiles - I love how they look different from different angles

Our gas line was finally trenched in this week.

Tomorrow we have the electrician finishing off and the plumber is starting his fit off. Glass balustrade for the upper deck is due to be done later this week too.

No new handover date as yet.

    1. Thanks Caitlin :) We sourced the tiles ourselves from a great place called Sketch Tiles. Agatha was very helpful, couldn't recommend them highly enough. I can't wait to see them all cleaned up :)

    3. The Laminex in the bathrooms, ensuite and powder room is Laminex Stipple Smoke. The Laminex in the laundry is Laminex Moose. It didn't cost us extra for the stone benchtops. SBB included 40mm stone to the kitchen but I negotiated 20mm stone to everywhere (excluding laundry) instead. If I were you I would source the stone yourselves to avoid the builder's markup :)

  3. Wow looks great! We just finished building with ssb , we were supposed to be in for Xmas but moved in on Easter Sunday with it still not properly finished. Can't belive how similar our houses look on yr plans, ours is just a wee bit smaller. Judging by yr blog yr build seems more organised than ours! Hope u enjoy it once yr in

  5. So I'm going to try really hard to remain positive,so ours went into council Jun 12, contract signed Mar 13 moved in Apr 14. Ours is 26.3 squares. The quality is poor and finishes not that great ( the kitchen benchtop window is 7mm out of which we already had to drop the bench top 3mm to accommodate) I had the same stance as u - we've waited this long it's going to be finished at handover, well it came to final walkthru (hse was not presented well), we gave him the list of defects, told him no final payment until it's finished, he went on holiday, nothing was done, certificate issued to them 10days later issued to us 3 weeks later ( during this time their insurance was void therefore hse uninsured by my understanding) nothing was still done, he took completion date from the date the cert. was issued, I tried and tried to have him explain the clauses to me in the contract regarding completion and final payment, but he said he doesn't follow it and prefers to do things face to face, so I said fine were moving in if your not going to follow it and pay us the time penalty I believe were owed. And that's how we moved in Easter Sunday. So the temp fencing was removed Tuesday, the trailer load of rubbish is still by the front door, the bricks still need hand painting by a place called naw caw ( due to acid wash taking 6 months and brickies laying chipped bricks). However your build seems so much cleaner and organised, probably as u have a site manager - I don't even know who ours was. You have created a beautiful house and so glad to see it's gone alot smoother than ours. I hope your in there quick smart with no hassles. Hope I don't sound too negative and thanks for listening.

    2. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Our ride hasn't been extremely smooth either. We had an independent inspector go through the place 9 days ago and we are still awaiting a response from the builder in relation to some defects that do not comply with the BCA that were picked up in the inspection. We are lucky that hubby has had the last two months off work so he's been able to keep a bit of an eye on things and flag things when they arise.
