Shelves and handles

The interior door handles have been fitted - Gainsborough Lianna in satin finish.

Built in robes and walk in robe shelf and rails have been fitted. This is about one third of the walk in robe. I think I'll put some drawers up one end. Still deciding whether to have something built or whether to just get some drawers from Ikea.

The linen closet has also had shelving fitted.

I took a quick shot of the skyline. It will be nice looking at all the lights at night time.

The kitchen at night. Half the lights aren't on in this picture. I'm considering putting some lights under the overhead cupboards. I'm still unsure though...

Found out today that we can't get our driveway done next week as the plumber won't be able to finish the site drainage at the front until early next week. So we have had to delay the driveway - again. Fingers crossed the concreter can fit us in soon so it doesn't delay things too much further. It's important that we get the driveway poured as they can't build the porch deck until the driveway is finished.

The frame for the lower rear deck has been started which is good.

Hopefully we aren't too far away from completion. My guess is that we are at least 4 weeks away.

  1. Looks great, you could do the LED strip under the top cupboards... I'm looking at doing that so I have plenty of light.

    1. I'm considering the LED light strip underneath the top cabinets. Still undecided whether to do that or look at putting downlights in. At this stage though I think the LED light strip would be the easiest.

  2. Hi there,

What a fascinating blog! Thank-you for sharing. It appears that we may be in a similar boat. I am also building with the same company and am encountering the same issues! Our house is a lot smaller than yours, but is similarly on a downwards sloping block. They started excavations in July 2013 and were told 6-8 months to complete. Right now we are still a couple of weeks away from lock-up. Very frustrating! Any tips/ tricks or anything you can recommend to help move things along? Thanks

    1. Hi Mr T, welcome to the blog :) yes, they are very slow. The best advice I could give is keep a close eye on things and bring things up with them as you notice it. Then make sure it gets done. What suburb are you building in?

    2. Thanks Mrs Royal. I will be sure to do that. I am building in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. I might add that you have a beautiful house. It will be amazing when it's finished!

    3. Thank you for your kind words. Do you have a blog? It would be great to see your journey :) I hope your delays are coming to an end and you experience great progress from here on. Do you know why there have been delays with your build?

    4. Hi Mr T, we are also building in the northern suburbs of Melbourne at the early stages. I'm very thankful to Mark who is getting things moving along for us, i hope your issues are fixed as we speak and you will be moving in soon. As frustrating as it is I'm sure (well hope) it will be worth it in the end - hang in there!
