Hi, I have come across your blog from a building forum. Can I ask who your building with and how you have enjoyed the process? Were going to build in Montmorency on a sloping block and currently dealing with Leigh Shoebridge at sloping block builders who seems lovely.
Hi Caitlin. We are building with Sloping Block Builders and also deal with Leigh. So far the build has progressed ok, although a little slower than we first thought. Site cut was done in March and we are still waiting for the frame to be finished. Although, it's not a straightforward build either, plus a wet winter sure slowed things down. Can't comment too much on the quality of the finish yet as we are nowhere near that stage. Good luck with your build and feel free to follow my blog :-)
Hi. The process has been VERY slow. Site was cut in March, 8mths ago, and we are still to get to lock up stage. We haven't progressed far enough for me to comment on quality. Feel free to follow my blog :-)
Hi Mr Brown. I may know something. Reply with your mobile number (I won't publish the comment so your number isn't made public). I can contact you tomorrow.
We unfortunately built with leigh from sloping block builders, we have been in a year now and have been chasing him and his trades to finish unsafe and not up to australian standard items listed in final walkthru, we have loads of issues and the quality of work is sub standard. Wish i never built with him.
Thankyou as im now in the process of preparing the letter for the building commision, its just heart breaking as im missing out on work myself in order to allow time for them to finish off the work they should have done, thankyou for this blog and i hope any other potential clients see this and save themselves the trouble by not building with them. To be honest with 80% of our issues i would have done better myself with no experience in that field.
I have had many people contact me through this blog and unfortunately we all have the same story. Last I heard they wound up the business and now he's working as a site supervisor for another builder.
we recently found your blog, and wondering which architect you used, as your floor plan is exactly what we're looking to build ourselves. we have a flat block, so wouldn't have a man cave :(
sorry to hear of your issues with the builder - sounds like it is no surprise they've gone under... :(
We used Vince Galati and we have been really happy with him. We have since used him to draw our plans for the spa and deck we built in the backyard. Here is a link to his details http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/vince-galati-archedge-design/epping

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear this. There seems to be many people in the same boat. I would recommend contacting the builder named on your building contract.
